Handling the Pages Linked From Your Article Syndication Content

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

I recently wrote about the difficulty we face in attempting resolve a contradiction in content syndication.  Here’s the issue boiled down to its core: Readers of our articles are still in the early part of the information gathering phase of the purchasing decision continuum.  Yet, because we want our links to optimize our money pages of the sites, the readers’ clicks on our article links will take them to a web page that assumes that they are ready to buy a particular alternative.  In that article, I combined that conflict with another related issue:  With good website design, each page should have a single purpose.  That purpose is to satisfy our visitor’s desire. a prospect to our money (product) page until they already want to go there–in other words, they’re ready to buy.]

Simply bringing the problem to the attention of article marketers was my goal in that previous piece.  Today, I’ll go that one additional step and give one answer to the quandary.

There are actually at least two solutions to the dilemma.  The first option is to ignore the rule of website design for marketing purposes and have our landing pages attempt to offer two different objectives allowing our readers to satisfy their information seeking and provinding an opportunity to buy the product or service from the same page.  Another solution to our dilemma is to include two different kinds of links from our distributed articles.  One link option or type leads to a landing page dedicated entirely to providing valuable information and an opt-in form encouraging the visitor to get even more information by signing up for our list; the other type of link leads to our “money page,” primarily for the purpose of search engine optimization.  Of course we must make clear from the context of the link what the landing page will offer.

When presented with these two options, I recommend the second.  Allow me to elaborate on why I endorse this approach and what the respective landing page for each type of link will contain.

Remember that our distributed article attracted the readers because those readers intended to gather useful information.  The only likely way we are going to attract those readers to our site is to offer them even more information than our article provides.  Of course, we always follow through with our promises or we shall immediately lose credibility.  In order to encourage our readers to actually click our link, we must give them truly interesting and valuable information the first time, while simultaneously leaving them with the impression that there is still more to learn.  We must subtly persuade them that our site will provide all the remaining necessary information, and we make sure that link delivers them to a content page.

We also want to move them along that decision making continuum by implying that there is a product or service that will provide the ultimate solution to their current problem.  By making the implication that our product or service will be their ultimate solution, even after they have gathered all the necessary information, we have justified linking to our product or money page.

It is always easier to logically include both types of links within our articles if we syndicate directly to websites that are within our general niche category; in those cases we can make our links contextual within the article, itself.  However, if we limit our article distribution to article directories, we can still accomplish our task by cleverly using a well written resource box to provide the rationale for linking to both kinds of pages.

On our content landing page, we focus upon bringing our readers much closer to the buying decision end of the decision making continuum.  We have already made progress by getting the readers to click the link in our syndicated article.  We can now treat them as serious prospects and ramp up our selling strategy a bit.  Consequently, we make our link to the actual buying page very prominent on this content page, but we focus primarily on getting them to take one more small step by asking for the contact information in exchange for the promise of even more valuable content.

In our syndicated article we use our content to sell our expertise.  On the linked page, we’re selling our credibility and integrity.  Once we have their contact information we can begin selling our product, subtly at first and then with increasing urgency.

Remember that the other type of link takes the clicker (or the search engine robot) to our page where we directly sell our product or service.  Since the purpose of that link is primarily search engine optimization, it is especially important that our anchor (linking) text is at once an accurate description of the selling page and a useful long tail keyword with implicit commercial intent.

As marketers, all of our efforts are toward making the sale.  As writers we must make the sale without disrupting the prose of our content.  So our first objective is to convince the article readers that they need more information, and that the necessary information can be found by clicking our link.  Then, with the second link type, we need to convince the search engine spiders that we have provided anchor text that is an accurate name for the content that we have on our selling page to which that link leads.  Thus our anchor text and the landing page content must be very similar.

Article Websites As An Online Business

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Article websites have become a lucrative business in the last several years. Article websites publish articles from subscribers who hope to increase their own website traffic by providing links in the articles back to their websites. The administrator of the website simply provides a publishing platform.

The Idea Behind An Article Websit

The concept of articles websites is very simple. People put their informative articles on these websites along with a link to their website in a bio box provided below the article. When someone reads the article, if they are impressed by it, they will want to visit the website by clicking on the link. This is how the website gets traffic.

Of course, it is necessary that the article must be rich in information and must pertain to the business. Meaning, if a person a website about pet products, an article on “How to groom your cat” could be considered ideal. If the article is really good, pet owners who read it are likely to visit the author’s website for more information.

How Article Websites Make Money

You could run such a website. It is an in-thing nowadays. There are various such article directories on the Internet. You could check them out and probably even become an author on some of them and contribute your work so that you understand the manner in which they work.

As an administrator, you will have to establish guidelines for your article website. Visit other article websites and review their guidelines and published articles. Consider what you like and dislike about their policies and then establish guidelines for your own site.

Optimizing website traffic is the most important job of the administrator. Advertisers are drawn to sites with the greatest amount of traffic. It is essential that the quality of the articles be high to attract and retain readers. Traffic, whether from new visitors or repeat visitors, will bring in advertisers.

Also, though you are allowing people to become members on your articles website freely, you will have to make sure that they post good content. That is why a moderating and proofreading team is required. You can check out the rules and regulations laid down by other articles websites and make your own guidelines in accordance with those.

3WayLinks Review - SEO Savior Or Completely Scam?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

I bet you’ve already heard about Jonathan Leger’s 3WayLinks SEO network, been sent to the 3WL sales page but weren’t sure if the 3WayLinks was just another scam or your true search engine optimization savior, right?

You see, I’ve always been a big fan of automation traffic generation solutions to develop my online business. When I first heard about this 3WayLinks network, I was instantly skeptical just like you because there are too many link farm networks out there that are trying to spam the search engines.

After read some excellent SEO articles on Jonathan’s blog, I was convinced that Jon’s a cool guy that really authoritative in SEO field and actually know well what he’s doing, I signed up 3WayLinks and gave it a try.

After five months of testing, I can finally say that 3WayLinks.net is a reliable SEO network which actually delivers on what it promises. It does actually help you achieve top ten rankings in Google.

I’m not going to talk about how Jon’s 3WayLinks works here (you can learn about it on his website) - I want to share with you my results here so you have some cold hard facts to help you decide if 3WL’s worth it for you.

I set up a Wordpress blog that just dedicated to promote a Clickbank product and then put the site in the 3WayLinks system aimed to rank 3 very targeted keywords related to that product.

You wanna see the result?

Traffic in April: 155 unique visitors

Clickbank Sales in April: one sale for $22.84

Traffic in April: 216 unique visitors

Clickbank Sales in April: 2 sale for $45.68

Traffic in April: 309 unique visitors

Clickbank Sales in April: 3 sale for $92.12

The whole work I did for that site is to put some review articles, choose 3 product keywords and plug the site into the 3WL network. That was no more than 5 hours of work and after that everything was completely automated.

I also found it sometimes takes more than 5 months to get your keywords to full ranked in Google so you really need to be patient and the most important part of getting the results is choosing your keywords wisely.

Let’s do a match here:

You can rank 50 of your web sites in Google with one 3WayLinks account.

If you invest $47 every month in 3WayLinks starting now, after 6 months your little product review site just like mine is getting 600 visitors a month and earns you a reasonable $200 per month.

You set up 50 sites and put all them into the network. $200 times 50 is $10,000 per month on auto-pilot.

Isn’t it worth $47 per month?

And what if I can have Jon to give you a lifetime 3WayLinks discount?

Now you can lock in your access at the ridiculously low price of $37/month plus my private bonus buster package, instead of paying the normal $47 a month: (I’m even paying $47 a month to the membership myself!)

Even if you only get one site ranked well enough just to earn $5 per day from Google AdSense, you will have already achieved a more than 300% monthly return on your investment.

Chances you may get some winner sites that one can earn you more than $500 to $1000 per month. Multiply that by a few dozens sites you put in the network and… well, you get the idea.

The Conclusion: The 3WayLinks network is one of the best deals that I’ve ever seen. Now I have 10 of my sites plugged into the network and rank well for almost all of them. And if you just want a traffic system that set and forget, then I would give a big thumbs up for Jon’s 3WayLinks. Just checkout my link below to get your high value bonus buster package

Google Page Rank Explained

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

It is a well known fact in the world of webmasters that you need lots of links in order to rank well in the search engine results pages. But no all links are worth the same, you can have 3000 links and rank higher than someone with 20,000 if your links are from sites of a better quality.

There are many things that affect how much a given link is worth but the main one that holds the most weight is the Page Rank or PR that Google has assigned the page youre receiving the link from.

Every page that Google can see will receive a Page Rank (PR) from 0-10, 0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. This will not happen immediately because PR is only reviewed once every 6 months or so. Achieving a PR of 10 is almost impossible unless you have a very large, very popular corporate website, like apple.com, but even that is only a PR 9. Some pages have a PR of n/a and this can mean several things, one that the page is younger than 6 months and Google hasnt ranked it yet, or because its an unimportant page deep in a site, or because Google has detected something it doesnt like on that site and blacklisted it.

So what is there to gain from a good PR? Well, if your site receives a link from a high PR site like a PR 7 or 8, then it will massively more beneficial than a link from a PR 1 or 2 site. In essence, what PR is, is how valuable and genuine Google considers the content of your page to be on a scale of 0-10. Each link counts as a vote for the integrity of the page it is linking to, and so if a PR 8 page votes for you then Google concludes that your page must be of high value, because a high value site says it is, and it will therefore push you further up the results rankings.

A common misconception in the SEO world is that Google PR directly helps you get higher in the results rankings. The truth is it doesnt. It is extremely valuable however because once you start achieving good PR, people will want links from you, and because the link you will be giving them is of high quality, you can request a high quality link back.

When you first start trying to get some PR for your site, you will be faced with what is almost a catch 22 situation in that the main way in which PR is achieved, is by getting quality links. However, people will be unwilling to give you and quality links until you have some PR to give them a quality link back. So to start with, it is rather a long process.

A good way to start your campaign for high quality links is to find sites like yours, not necessarily theme related (although this does help) but sites that are relatively new and are eager to get links. These sites will be a good starting point for your linking because in six months to a years time these sites will have some PR (probably no more than 2 or 3 but thats still well worth having) and so in the long term will be highly beneficial to your sites search engine rankings, and your PR, meaning you can start exchanging links with higher and higher PR sites.

There are other things that are taken into account when Google calculates your PR. Obviously nobody knows all of them except the people who develop the system, otherwise everyone would manipulate it to give them good PR, but what we do know is that sites that are regularly updated with fresh new content hold far more sway with Google and other search engines than sites that are left for long periods of time.

The reasoning behind this is that if a site has fresh new content every week or every fortnight or so, then the information will be the most up to date and relevant to modern times as opposed to a site that has had the same content on it for a year. Google wants to give people the best, most up to date information related to what they are looking for. If you bear this in mind when starting a PR campaign, along with the correct linking methods, you cant go far wrong.

The Secrets to Optimizing a Web Page For SEO

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Many Internet professionals are intently curious about search engine optimization (SEO). But how exactly is a page optimized for SEO? There are certain benchmarks that business can follow to achieve high search engine results page ranking (SERPs) and get the targeted traffic they want. These steps will be discussed in detail.

The first step to SEO success is to create a robust webpage. Robust does not mean filled with extraneous features, widgets, feeds, etc. Rather, a page is considered robust by search engines when it is filled with original, quality content. The originality aspect means that the content is not plagiarized, and quality means that the content brings something new to the table. Basically, when search engines see enough articles about how to walk a dog, it gives preference to articles which instruct in dog walking for specialty breeds, or dog walking on very hot days. Essentially, if it is already plastered on the Internet the content is not important enough to regard as special.

Second, SEO pages are optimized for keywords in the right locations. First, the targeted keywords must be accurately positioned. Targeted keywords and phrases should be in the page title (not the site title), which is normally marked in HTML with the tag. Also, targeted keywords should be in the actual URL of the page (e.g. www.stuff.com/Targeted_Keywords.html). Finally, the target keywords are generally recommended to be in the first paragraph and last sentence of content. Long-tail keywords, aka related keywords, should be in the article body and separated by paragraph. What this entire process says to a search engine bot is, This article is about X because the URL, page title, introductory paragraph and conclusion say it is. But X and A, B, C, D are related because they appear to be sub-topics of X. Index this article for X and A, B, C, D under X.

Lastly, SEO relies on backlinks, a link placed on another page which directs the viewer to your page. The best backlink is one that is anchored to a page with few others, known as link popularity. Also be sure it is on a page that is highly regarded by search engines, like Google PageRank. A backlink is the most powerful determinant for good SEO.

SEO is a simple concept, yet it’s practices use thousands of dollars a year as companies teach marketer to use SEO and but backlinks. One thing is certain, however, the SEO industry will be around for a very long time.
